Session title: Exploiting Db2 DDF Without Fear or Revelations
Session abstract: This presentation will focus on the use and evolution of Db2 DDF access from its infancy to a leading OLTP transactional model that organizations are relying on.
During the session industry infrastructure and application usage best practices will be discussed. Db2 for z/OS SWAT Team customer experiences will be shared, what has worked, and the challenges that have been experienced. In addition to DDF access, dynamic dynamic SQL fears and concerns will be targeted. The overall objective of the session is to share best practices and success stories and to calm any revelations around DDF from an infrastructure and application perspective as organizations increasingly exploit the technology.
Speaker bios: Anthony Ciabattoni is an IBM Certified Executive IT specialist and a current leader of the Db2 for z/OS SWAT team based out of the Silicon Valley Lab with over 30 years of working directly with Db2 for z/OS. His experience includes be a customer lead Db2 architect as well as working in the Db2 for z/OS Tools development lab. He is a recognized Db2 for z/OS SME, 12+ years a member of the IBM Db2 for z/OS Customer Advisory Council and elected 9 straight years as an IBM Information Champion before joining IBM. In Anthony’s current role as leader of the Db2 for z/OS SWAT Team he leads consulting and educational workshops, Db2 health checks, and 360 Continuous Availability studies for worldwide Db2 for z/OS customers as well as a lab advocate to some of IBM’s largest North American and European customers. He has also presented Db2 topics at IBM worldwide conferences, IDUG (NA, SA, EMEA), SHARE Conferences (US) as well as GSE European conference and has been selected as IDUG top presenters. Participated in authoring numerous Db2 for z/OS red books and white papers.
